Developing clean industry across the region

Delivering on the ground in Brazil, identifying barriers and mobilising government, industry, energy and finance to find the best solutions to progress investment in clean industrial projects

The Industrial Transition Accelerator (ITA) is a global multi-stakeholder platform, managed by Mission Possible Partnership, to fast-track decarbonisation in energy-intensive industry and transport sectors.

The ITA’s Brazil Programme, in partnership with the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services of Brazil (MDIC), helps projects progress to final investment decision (FID).

ITA works directly with clean industrial projects in Brazil applying learnings and insights to address the challenges of advancing clean industrial projects to FID, such as helping secure additional volumes of off-take, and predictable policy frameworks that incentivise demand, as well as securing permits and access to critical infrastructure like grid connections.

Building a supportive environment
for green industry in Brazil

The selection of new projects is evidence of the strong partnership between MDIC and the ITA, reinforcing our strategy to build a new, green, inclusive and competitive industrial base

ITA is supporting projects spanning key sectors such as iron, steel, and chemicals — by helping identify barriers and mobilise policy, demand, and financing solutions.
These programmes reinforce Brazil’s leading role in the emerging global industrial movement focused on decarbonisation and as a member of the “industrial sunbelt,” a bloc of countries with plentiful renewable energy resources and favourable conditions for clean industry.

Brazil’s prominence in the “industrial sunbelt” has potential to attract up to US$ 55 billion in strategic investments.
